Navratri

Nine-night Hindu festival observed twice a year (Chaitra in spring, Sharad in autumn).

Definition

Navratri (especially the autumn festival in Sep-Oct) is a major fasting window in Gujarat, Maharashtra, parts of Rajasthan and Delhi NCR. Non-vegetarian demand drops 30–50% in many cities; pure-veg, kuttu/singhara/sabudana, and farali menus lift sharply. Hotel ADD buffets and caterers add a 'farali' lane.
