Shravan

The fifth month of the Hindu calendar (July–August), observed with widespread fasting and vegetarian preference.

Definition

Shravan is one of the most operationally significant calendar windows for Indian restaurants. Non-vegetarian demand drops 35–55% in many catchments; vegetarian and pure-veg-thali demand rises 20–40%. Forkcast's calendar engine flags Shravan a week ahead so non-veg ordering can be cut.
Example

Worked example

A Pune non-veg restaurant typically sees Mondays in Shravan run at 45% of a normal Monday — most of the lift moves to paneer, dal, and veg curries.
