Location / Catchment Scorer
Pincode + cuisine + format โ competitor count from Google Places + rent-to-revenue feasibility flag. Pulls real competitor density, not guesses.
Common questions
What's a healthy rent-to-revenue ratio?
Indian restaurants stay healthy under 8%. 8-12% is tight โ every weekend matters. Above 12% the business is structurally fragile; the only escape is a 30%+ revenue lift, which most operators can't engineer fast enough.
How is competitor count calculated?
When the GOOGLE_PLACES_API_KEY is available, we query Google Places for matching cuisine restaurants in the pincode. When not, we fall back to a heuristic from city tier + cuisine mainstream-ness. The result page tells you which source was used.
Why does the same pincode score differently for different cuisines?
Because saturation is cuisine-specific. A pincode that's saturated for North Indian might have zero credible Bengali or Andhra options โ that's the gap the scorer surfaces.
Can I run this for a place I'm scouting before signing?
Yes. That's the use case. Run it for each shortlisted address, save the share links, compare them on a single page.
